Then (first day of kindergarten)...and now (last day of kindergarten)....
School is out for the summer, and we have successfully made it through an entire year of kindergarten. I can hardly believe it, it is kind of surreal that next year I will have a first-grader who will be gone all day. Yikes! But it has been pretty amazing to watch Abigail learn so much in a year. She is already reading quite a bit (it's actually a little shocking sometimes what she can read), made some great little friends, and she seems to really love learning. I hope it's a life-long love. We are one week into summer break, and Abigail and Owen have played "school" everyday, so hopefully she can last a whole summer without it.
Here are some pictures of the little kindergarten program they did towards the end of the year. Based on Abigail's preschool performances, I was expecting to be slightly embarrassed by her lack of participation. But boy did she get into it! It was great to see her enjoy herself so much.
Abigail is on the left in the back row.
The boys enjoying the show.

Me at the piano. Another mom and I switched off every week playing the piano for singing time. Sometimes the boys came with me, and I'm pretty sure Owen could have sung every song right along with the kindergarten class.
Well, I hate to end on such an awesome picture of myself, but (or should I say butt)....

Excellent, I feel like I'm back in tune with the AWOK family.
YES! Another update - lovin' it! It's crazy how much Abigail has really grown up in the last year...wow! I must say, that's very fun-loving of you to play the piano. Nice going! Who knew when you played it for my 6th grade play that it would be an ongoing tradition! :)
I love it! So cute! Way to be part of the program!
I was beginning to worry about you! Happy to see an update! Every kid needs a mom like you! Butt pics and all! LOL
Abs! So cute! And your butt is looking great! Love it! She sure is growing up and she is such a beauty too!
So sad! I was more sad the last day of kindergarten than I was the first. It's just all over now! You look great in the piano picture!
Enjoy your summer with her!
Such a cutie- both of you! There's nothing like kids going to school to make you feel old:)
Andrea,
What a great idea to take a pic on her first and last day. And they all look so cute standing up there for their program. Your blog entries are always so cute and personal! :)
